Nourishing Mind, Body, Heart and Soul

In December's blog , I shared my intentions for 2025, which revolve around embracing a life that is "slow, spacious and connected." As I've delved deeper into these concepts, I've discovered a core theme that unites them: NOURISH.
This realisation struck me in a very literal moment. Last Monday, while cooking, the final portions began to overflow from the pot. I decided to give the extra food to someone in need—a person who was going through a difficult time. In that moment, I recognized the interconnectedness of nourishment. My cooking nourished not only my family but also extended to others in my community. This experience highlighted how our actions, which may seem small or routine, can have a ripple effect on the lives of those around us. It was profound for me as right before cooking, I was doing a breathwork session with the intention to receive abundance with ease that overflows to bless and nourish others. And it literally happened!
To further embrace the theme of nourishment, I've set a goal to read at least one book per month. This month, I've already read two and am currently immersed in three more (two by Mel Robbins and one by Oprah Winfrey). With the intention to slow down this year, I am creating the space within me to connect to things that bring joy to me. Reading is definitely one of them! You can clearly tell that I LOVE reading self-help books. There is something so nourishing for the mind and soul when reading and absorbing the wisdom of others. This, in turn, positively influences my inner world and would show up through my art as my way of engaging with the external world.
If you are keen to find out more about these books I've read/ am reading now (which I HIGHLY recommend), click to expand for more details! These are all from our wonderful NLB (except for the Oprah Winfrey book, which was a lovely gift from a friend!)
Into the Magic Shop / James R. Doty, MD
Self-love club : real talk and reminders for discovering that we're enough / Hyesu Lee
The high 5 habit : Take control of your life with one simple habit / Mel Robbins
The let them theory _ a life-changing tool that millions of people can't stop talking about / Mel Robbins
The wisdom of Sundays : life-changing insights from Super Soul conversations / Oprah Winfrey
The reading habit was revived after listening to this emotional podcast by Mel Robbins with Dr James Doty, a leading neurosurgeon from Stanford who talked about manifestation from a neuroscientific perspective (highly recommend!!) If you didn't know, I am quite a neuroscience junkie and am incredibly fascinated in how our brains work. It's been an amazing learning journey reading about the grey matter between our ears!
A key goal I've set to bring my intentions to fruition this year is to declutter my physical space. Growing up labeled as the "lazy, messy, and untidy" sibling left me with feelings of shame, guilt, and grief. Understanding my ADHD and its impact on organisation has motivated me to invest in professional help from someone who can hold space for my intense emotions.
Enter my dear friend Jinda, a certified KonMari consultant, who arrived at my doorstep wearing a Superhero cape and my Create Your Destiny twilly – a perfect embodiment of the unconditional love and support I needed ❤ Our first tidying session was magical, as Jinda's gentle yet firm guidance allowed me to let go of items that no longer served me, making space for a refreshed wardrobe that exudes positive energy.

This experience has empowered me to continue decluttering other areas of my home. While I anticipate challenges, I trust that with Jinda's expertise and understanding, I am in safe hands. If you haven't already, do follow Jinda at her IG account for more tidying tips that feels gentle and nourishing!
Embracing the theme of nourishment in my life has motivated me to challenge myself and take risks in my art. On Monday, I hosted an impromptu Instagram Live painting session while doing my "Caihui's Child's Play" session. This "child's play" is a personal challenge to create small works within a 30 minutes timespan to paint intuitively, free from the constraints of the thinking mind. During the live session, I battled FIERCELY with my inner critic/ perfectionism/ imposter syndrome, but eventually remembering my NEW KPI for 2025 helped me pull through and get into a flow state of creating.

My newfound KPI for this year? It's simple:
AM I HAVING FUN?
Is this nourishing to me?
If the answer is a resounding "Yes!", then I know I'm on the right track.
SAVE THE DATE!
With that in mind, I invite you to join me for my next Instagram Live Paint & Chat session on March 6th (Thur) at 12:30 PM.
Let's have fun together! Follow me on IG: https://www.instagram.com/heartinhandatelier/
